NZ Art Guild Newsletter January 2010 Welcome back everyone - hard to believe a month has gone already. We hope you had a great break over the festive season. This year has got off to a great start for many of our artists and we would like to share some of their news with you Congratulations to ... Congratulations to Chavah Kinloch, Sophia Elise, Sharlene Schmidt, Lauryne Hart and Rachael Inch for being selected as feature artists by American jewellery company - Bajidoo. Their original artworks have been made into stunning Bajidoo Bangles. This was an opportunity open to artists all around the world and we are very excited that 5 out of the 7 artists selected for 2010 are not only NZ artists but members of the NZ Art Guild. Congratulations to Amanda Cass for being selected as a finalist in Photographer of the Year award 2009 - under the digital vision category. This is an international competition with over 100,000 entries received. You can see Amanda's entry here

Peace and Remembrance Exhibition, Cassino, Italy This fabulous exhibition of NZ artwork is to be held in Cassino, Italy in May. Kay de Lautour is the organiser of this event and is a Kiwi artist living in Italy. Her vision is to not only take NZ art into the international circuit but to spread the message of world peace. Artists with a connection to the Battle of Cassino and WWII were invited to apply for this project. Amongst the artists selected are NZ Art Guild members Sharlene Schmidt, Ronda Turk, Pam Tapp, Christine Dempster, Sheryl Eustace, Sue McPhee, Sophia Elise, Chrissy Brook, Sally Blyth, Gail Boyle and Angela Laby. We will keep you updated with this event as the time draws closer. More information here

This months art challenges Every fortnight a challenge is issued to our Guild members and also to members of our facebook group. These challenges are completely voluntary. Submissions must be original and be completed during the 2-week time frame. Participants may choose to interpret the theme in any way they wish. To view all entries for each challenge go to www.nzartguild.blogspot.com The last challenge for 2009 was a photo based one where artists used a set photo to create an artwork.
