Welcome to June's edition of the NZ Art Guild Newsletter.
NZ Art Guild and Mental Health Foundation Charity Auction A great way to start this edition of our newsletter is to announce our wonderful upcoming exhibition. The NZ Art Guild have colloborated with the Mental Health Foundation for the 3rd year to create a charity auction and exhibition to raise funds for the foundation.

NZ Art Guild members Beate Minderjahn, Tony Brown, Nancy Frazer, Angela Laby, Caroline Viesnik, Sharlene Schmidt, Sophia Elise, Natasha Wheeler, Ana Ter Huurne, Tineswari Maruthamuthu, Claire Fairweather, and Lorraine Beattie have generously donated artworks to be auctioned on the night. The Annual Members Exhibition " Emerge" will also open on this evening - with 40 artists from all over NZ exhibiting a diverse range of amazing artworks. This exhibition is not to be missed.
This year's NZ Art Guild Collaborative artwork titled 'Bloom' will also be unveiled on opening night. This artworks is kept secret - even form the artists participating in it. The piece was created by 64 individual artworks by 61 members of the NZ Art Guild. When combined this artwork creates a stunning overall image which measures 1.3m x 1.3m. The theme of this artwork is New Beginnings and Growth. It will be auctioned off via Trademe from July 17th. 100% of proceeds raised will be donated to the Mental Health Foundation.

Congratulations to the Sophia Elise for being one of three finalists in the 2010 HER Businesswoman of the Year Awards under the Outstanding Business Citizenship Award. A wonderful achievement for Sophia Elise!
 Congratulations to Rachael Inch - our South Island Coordinator for her new position on the Arts Canterbury Board! We know she will be a huge assest to them just as she is to the NZ Art Guild.

Congratulations to Angela Laby for receiving a contract with Harvey Norman to supply them with her amazing original artworks! Legato Video Interviews Interviews with the artists that travelled over for the Legato Exhibition in Italy are now available online. You can hear several NZ Art Guild members discuss their artworks, inspiration behind them and the experience of an international exhibition. This Months Art Challenges Every fortnight a challenge is issued to our guild members and also to members of our facebook group. These challenges are completely voluntary. Submissions must be original and be completed during the 2-week time frame. Participants may choose to interpret the theme in any way they wish. To view all entries for each challenge click here

Survive & Thrive 2010 | fuelling the business of creativity Forum, Workshops & Expo | 8 July 2010 10.30 am - 6 pm The University of Auckland Business School, Grafton Rd, Auckland

The Survive & Thrive 2010 Expo is an important opportunity for creative people to engage with enabling organisations such as yours that are the motivators and backbone of Auckland's creative sector infrastructure. Survive & Thrive 2010 is a significant networking event in the creative sector for entrepreneurial artists, producers & organisations working in the Auckland region. The Expo, starting at 10.30am, will provide promotion and networking opportunities for all participants.
With Ray Avery [New Zealander of the Year] as the keynote speaker as well as a rotating programme of eight workshops and speed-networking [the business version of speed dating], the day will be inspiring, insightful and information packed. There will also be 40 leading arts organisations in the expo who are there to help you survive and thrive. NZ Art Guild will be at the expo for the second year - take the opportunity to come and meet Chelsea and Sophia.
Based on the success of Survive & Thrive last year, they anticipate that 200 - 300 entrepreneurial artists, producers & organisations will attend this unique event representing the diversity of the creative sector including moving image, music, visual arts, object arts, fashion design, performance, digital media . . .
