ARTIST PROFILE:
Ruth Sumner lives and works in a Studio in Dairy Flat with her husband and various animals. Originally from South Auckland, Ruth worked as a sexual abuse therapist until she ‘burnt out’ in 1996. Art school became the locus of healing for Ruth and after her Bachelor of Visual Arts graduation at MIT, she went on to receive a full scholarship (for most outstanding portfolio) from AUT and completed a Master of Art and Design (hons) in 2002. Ruth’s work is usually abstract, feature more than one media and will often reflect a spiritual theme.
