Profile

My home is in Whangaroa (the jewel of the North as it is often called).  It wasn't until reaching my 40's that I decided to tap into my creative side.  Leaving Auckland and a good paying corporate position behind I headed North to 'discover' myself.

Beginning from scratch, with a 'how to slipcast ceramics' book by my side, Keriblue Ceramics was born.  Five years later with a staff of eight I realised I was getting bogged down with the demands of running a business, so sold successfully and moved to my next phase of life.

I went back to school and studied part time for four years.  Now my visual arts diploma hangs on the wall, but my heart and soul is in the art that emerges from within.  My attitude to painting is changing as I progress.   Whereas for some years I would just 'paint' to see what would transpire, I now study both subject and colour more carefully.  At times I find this somewhat constraining as I rather like instant results without too much thought, but it affords me a greater awareness of compatibility of colour, tone, values, etc.

My medium of choice is oils, however I am currently having a wonderful play with pastels and am pleased to say, my completed works are selling well.
