Helen is a self-taught artist living in Auckland. Her simmering interest in painting was re-ignited after working for a time in horticulture, as it provided a way to explore and attempt to capture some of the amazing plant forms around her. Inspiration comes endlessly from the North Shore environment she lives in, as well as the creative friends, family and endless artistic people who abound.

Helen's paintings feature stylised landscapes, seascapes, orchards, forests, gardens, and flora in various forms. They are full of curving line work and organic shapes, and in the course of painting often develop in unforeseen ways, so as different areas end up winding amongst each other. She loves to experiment with colour combinations and tone as much as possible, and this often gives her inspiration in itself.

In the future Helen hopes to spend more time following green-fingered interests, and to devote more time to creative pursuits; in the meantime painting provides her with a way to combine the two.
