Born in Scotland, and raised in Ireland, Aisling Bourne gained a degree in multimedia at Cheltenham College of Art and Design. She has worked in the design industry in both London and Auckland.

Having moved to New Zealand to pursue her other love, sailing, Aisling continued to explore many creative outlets including photography, graphic design and painting.

Elements of her design background can often be seen in her simplified 'shade and structure' style when interpreting the New Zealand landscape. Her photographers understanding of light is also seen through her work.

As a complete contrast to both of these mediums the fluid and unpredictable nature of silk painting has brought new challenges and excitement to her work.
